Melanie Brown, better known as Mel B. one of the Spice Girls, has some interesting life stories. The dynamics of her family, her tenure when the Spice Girls were in their heyday, her relationships—good, bad and indifferent, could fill a tome.
And I say that because Brown has been more than open about them.
Apparently, ain’t nothing changed. In a recent interview with Piers Morgan on “Good Morning Britain,” she shared that one of her relationships was more than she thought.
Unbeknownst to me, there were rumors that Geri Halliwell, (Ginger Spice) and Brown slept together. Morgan asked Halliwell about it and, according to The Sun, she said something like they all slept in the same bed.
That’s not what Morgan was getting at. So when he had to the chance to speak with Mel B., he asked the question again.
“There were rumors that you and Geri were more than just good friends. You had a little dabble. Anything you want to share with the group?”
After some smiling, stalling and pointing at the other Melanie (Sporty Spice) for some help, she finally said, “Well, not really…What do you consider doing it or not. Yeah, we all slept in a bed together.”
Not one to be deterred, Morgan said, “Did you sleep with Geri, like that?”
Brown smiled and quietly nodded before shouting. “She’s going to hate me for this because she’s all posh in her country house and her husband. But it’s the past. It just happened and we just giggled at it and that was it.”
She said that their encounter was “just a fun thing” and that she hoped Geri would back her up on this newly shared tidbit. “She is going to kill me and so is her husband. Hopefully, when Geri gets asked that, which hopefully she will after this, she won’t deny it, because it was just a thing, a fun thing.”
But that might not be how things play out. According to The Sun, Brown made a panicked phone call to Geri immediately after the show. according to sources, there are fears that Geri’s husband, Formula 1 auto racing mogul Christian Horner, will be so offended by the comments that he could suggest she not participate in the tour.
Sigh.
Just like men should refrain from disclosing their sexual partners without permission, so should women. Geri had the right to determine whether or not she wanted to share her the identity of her sexual partners. And from the looks of things, Mel B. clearly didn’t have her permission to do so.
Still, with the Spice Girls reportedly set to make $2 million each for their part in the reunion tour, it would be silly for her to allow Mel B.’s mouth to keep her from a bag.
